Surgical Gastroenterology

This medical field is the study of internal medicine (specialists who apply scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to the diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care of adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness). Gastroenterology deals with Digestive diseases.

To Become a gastroenterologist an Individual is first broadly trained in Internal Medicine and subsequently in diagnosing and treating the disease of the digestive system. Also, to become a certified gastroenterologist an individual must qualify for Board certification and he/she must have completed four years of college, four years of medical school, and have received a degree in medicine. Then he/she must complete an additional four to six years of specialty training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
